CONFSP — Confined Space

This course is designed for participants who enter, may be required to enter, or supervise a confined space where there is limited or restricted methods of entry and exit. CSAMED — CSA Medical Gas

This 40-hour Medical G.A.S. program will prepare pipe trades workers to install medical gas piping and give them the skills and abilities to complete work safely and securely in all forms of construction and maintenance operations in a hospital. CERTIFICATION: CSA Group will provide the online written exam that ensures compliance to the CSA Z7396.1-17 Medical Gas Standard. The CSA/NAUSC certification is valid for five years. PRE-REQUISITE: A Provincial or Red Seal Certificate of Qualification for Steamfitter or Plumber.

EPRRIG — EPRI Rigging

The EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) Rigging course is designed to educate and certify journeyperson members about the complexities of working safely as rigging specialists. Members interested in taking this course need a strong rigging background, with at least three to five years of experience. To obtain certification, journeypersons must complete: 1. Three (3) practical examinations. 2. A 100 question, 90-minute computer generated exam with a minimum grade of 80%.

FPUMP3 — Fire Pump 3 (Fire Pump Maintenance)

Pumps are critical and essential components of water-based fire protection systems. Proper installation, operation, repair and maintenance including testing is vital for successful fire protection. Fire Pump 3 includes theory based training as well as practical exercises involving fire pump maintenance, disassembly, assessment, pump repairs, and re-assembly. Introduction to fire pump packing and an introduction to Fire pump alignment are also included in this training. Must be at least a level 3 apprentice or higher to attend.

This certification program is designed to provide consistent training for all Stewards across Canada and to emphasize the UA Standard for Excellence and the Steward’s critical role in its success. Methods for working with management and union members toward a more productive jobsite, while ensuring that workplace issues do not escalate and interfere with operations and productivity on the job will be explained. SUPER1 — NAUSC Supervision - Level 1 Certification Program

Formerly named the NAUSC Foreman Certification Program, this training program offers essential skills and concepts needed to supervise a crew in the many sectors that Piping Professionals work within. Topics include communication & core values, planning, documentation, and legal responsibilities. Included in the program are sessions designed to build personal and supervisory skills, plan and supervise a multi-discipline work crew, manage safety requirements, provide essential training in due diligence and discipline, and workflow scheduling. The course uses individual and group activities and quizzes to reinforce learning. The NAUSC Supervision Level 1 program is a prerequisite course for the NAUSC Supervision Level 2 program and the Industrial Construction Crew Supervisor (ICCS) designation (Alberta).
